a reminder

Such sadness that this week has brought with the news from Virginia Tech. I still can't quite wrap my head around it. We received our wedding pictures just a few days ago which seemed like perfect timing-a reminder of our family and friends and the love that we felt surrounding us on our wedding day-the trick is to hold onto that and make it an everyday reality.

Hotel Love

I fell in love with our hotel.

Everything inside smelled like cedar and wood burning fireplaces. Even the soap and shampoo were cedar and pine scented.

We had two fireplaces, two flat screen tvs, a heated bathroom floor and a room with a view of the ice skating rink.

There were chandeliers everywhere


And each night they left two chocolate chip cookies before bed.

When can we go back?

We're Off!

It's finally here! Our wedding is days away and I'll be out of town and away from a computer until Tuesday, December 19. I'll be sitting in a hottub with a cold drink in my hand everyday during that time-can't wait! I'll return with lots of pictures and good cheer. Be good!

Weekend

The wedding is just four days away and things have reached a frantic pace around here. So many little things to be done and I keep reminding myself to breathe, slow down-some times it works. We are really excited, I can't believe how quickly this time has gone by and in just a few days I will be a married woman. After battling the dreaded mall for some accessories this weekend, I managed to get into a fender bender, had to have my car towed and now have a rental. This was after I got into a small argument with a 15 year old at Forever 21 about a return policy(there isn't one). Those cut off tights wearing, clear skinned girls at that store are so rude and snotty. But at Delia's next door, the girls are so sweet and helpful-give me the face full of braces and rubber bands any day-they were cute and didn't seem to care that I was the only person in the store under the age of 12.
Above is a picture of my holiday swap ornaments that are still(sorry!) waiting to be sent. I hope that you all had a nice weekend and does anyone have a way to get rid a cold FAST?

Fitting

Happy Monday-hope you had a nice weekend! I had my first dress fitting on Saturday with the sweetest woman. She was so tiny and had the coldest hands, knew everything there is to know about wedding dresses. The fitting took place in her living room which was surrounded by family pictures of her kids and husband. Those pictures covered every square inch of the small room. There were Christmas carols playing on the stereo and I stood on a square piece of wood placed on top of the carpet. She started searching through bins and bins of cleavage cups and chicken cutlets-I wasn't sure that I wanted lining cups sewn into the dress and before I knew what was happening, she slid those things in through the sides, in perfect position. And you know what, it looked so much better. Especially when she told me that my options were the liners, band-aids or see through nipples on my wedding day. I was promptly scolded and told to just trust her.
On Sunday we walked around town with coffee and happily, I had my camera with me.

Sunbath

We are lazily welcoming our day which will soon be filled with preparations for Thanksgiving. I'll be knee deep in laundry and cleaning the apartment in order to make room for Christmas decorations. Since we'll be on our honeymoon, I don't think we'll get a live tree this year but my dad just got us a silver tinsel tree which I can't wait to put up. I have been so badly wanting one since I saw this picture and it has been waiting very patiently to be unwrapped and decorated for a few weeks now.

Still no shoes but all other accessories are ready to go. I actually am wearing a different dress than the one that I posted about here. It just didn't feel like me. Here is the dress that I'll be wearing, I love it's simplicity and cut. I was worried that it looked too summery for a winter wedding but ultimately I decided that it really didn't matter.

Down To The Wire

It's about three weeks before the wedding day and things are moving so quickly! I've been doing lots of last minute stuff and bought most of my accessories but am having the hardest time finding shoes. I'll show what I came up with tomorrow or Wednesday(must find shoes, must find shoes) any suggestions for an ivory, closed toe, high heeled shoe? Yesterday I bought supplies needed for the cake+pie/freshly{blended} holiday ornament swap and I can't wait to get started(and am quickly approaching that deadline too). Wedding+Holidays+Swaps+Work=seriously what was I thinking and where did I leave my sanity because last time I saw it was in August. I really am having fun planning everything and even if it is a little crazy I do enjoy it, I hope I'm not complaining too much! So, a big thank you for listening and I'll leave you with some vintage fabric and linens that I found while thrifting when I should have been organizing bridal party transportation or deciding pantyhose or no pantyhose for the bridesmaids instead. I should have ironed all of these, but, well, you know...

Snow Bunny?

Since we are getting married in December, Dave and I decided not to fight the weather and honeymoon somewhere snowy and cozy. A honeymoon with snow and the possibility of some skiing is pretty much a dream for him- I love snow but am a beginner skier so plans will be made for some spa time while he is shredding the slopes(is that the right term?!) Since I will attempt some skiing and since that means most of my time will be spent on my stomach and rear end, I am hoping to look good while careening down the slopes head first. Maybe I should take some pointers from these snow bunnies...
