I found this advent calendar at an antique store a few years ago on the bottom of a pile of old magazines and was instantly in love. Advent calendars are one of my favorite things about Christmas.
It is hard to see in this picture but days 7 and 8 are my favorite. I think the pink bassinet and cuckoo clock are so sweet.
Here are the thrifted ornaments that I told you about-our tree this year is very fat so much of it had to be squashed against the wall in order for it to fit. I may not have listened to this reasoning while picking out the tree. So here it is for the record...honey you were right...(but it is pretty)!

Dresses
One Snoopy costume down, a Woodstock to go. I've managed some thrifting and came home with a few more vintage handmade dresses. The quality and attention to detail always amazes me. Love love the tiny buttons and fabrics. I'm thinking about hanging them for inspiration like this and this. Hope you had a great weekend!
a thrifted apron and omg what's that smell
I found this apron while thrifting and was so excited-I love everything about this find and do believe that it may be my most favorite apron yet(and there are many)! So excited was I to tie this baby on and snap some pics for you, I wanted to show off the semi hidden pocket...
which was a feat in and of itself. It's hard to be your own model and get a clear shot(which is why this one is not...) I wanted to write about how happy I am that it is finally flip flop season again and how I think aprons and flip flops are meant for each other...
but that was until the smell started to rise up from the apron. Holy crap this thing smells! Like boiled cabbage or stewed beets or pickled pork-what kind of cooking was done in this apron?! So, rip! off went the apron into the washing machine. Hopefully, nothing some hot water and lots of soap won't fix. And maybe a shower for me...
Monday
Happy Monday! We had some beautiful weather all weekend-I hope that you did too. Our weekend was filled with thrifting, playing wiffle ball in the street, riding my bike, walking the pooches, cleaning, cooking and planting lots of flowers. These flowers sit in our kitchen window above the sink. I'll leave you with pics of some vintage dresses newly thrifted. Have a great day.
The Goods
I try to reserve Fridays for thrifting days and today I got my game face on and hit as many stores as possible. All other plans for the day quickly went out the window but I managed to come home with a few things that I love. I found about a yard of the blue fabric above and four of these cute panels.
What I'm most excited about is the vintage wallpaper that I found hidden behind a bookshelf. I've been on the lookout for wallpaper forever and have some plans for it in the works.

Snow Day
Things are cozy around here today. The snow is coming down, the dogs are snoring at my feet and the schools have let out early. Early dismissals were always the best-I remember the buzz of excitement filling the entire school, my friends and I could take our time walking home from school to play on the playground and in the new snow. As I write this, I can see a group of boys playing football. And I've got on some big fluffy socks! Cozy I tell ya!
However, we have to sacrifice some good light for all of this snowiness. One of the thrift stores that I go to always has such cute vintage children's clothing. I've been admiring it for so long but have never purchased anything because I don't really have a use for it right now and I'm pretty sure that Lucy isn't interested. But today after putting these 2 dresses back on the rack and then picking them up again and then putting them back about 20 times, I happily took them home with me.

Me + Procrastination = very good friends
Lesson plans, laundry, thank you cards, grocery store, bill paying = need to be happening
Downloading music, taking pictures of thrifted trim and buttons, touching up projects, scratching dog bellies, coffee drinking = a good morning

Down To The Wire
It's about three weeks before the wedding day and things are moving so quickly! I've been doing lots of last minute stuff and bought most of my accessories but am having the hardest time finding shoes. I'll show what I came up with tomorrow or Wednesday(must find shoes, must find shoes) any suggestions for an ivory, closed toe, high heeled shoe? Yesterday I bought supplies needed for the cake+pie/freshly{blended} holiday ornament swap and I can't wait to get started(and am quickly approaching that deadline too). Wedding+Holidays+Swaps+Work=seriously what was I thinking and where did I leave my sanity because last time I saw it was in August. I really am having fun planning everything and even if it is a little crazy I do enjoy it, I hope I'm not complaining too much! So, a big thank you for listening and I'll leave you with some vintage fabric and linens that I found while thrifting when I should have been organizing bridal party transportation or deciding pantyhose or no pantyhose for the bridesmaids instead. I should have ironed all of these, but, well, you know...
The Night Before Christmas
I was so surprised to find this book in between the ripped and colored on Sesame Street books during my last thrift. I snatched this puppy up as fast as I could and was equally surprised that it was in such great condition. Everett Shinn illustrated this version of Clement Clarke Moore's classic poem, copyright 1942.
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there
