Things I Love Thursday

Before the Block Island trip, Dave and I visited family and stayed with his mom. She has a mini ranch with three horses and lots of land smack in the middle of the woods. It is so peaceful there and we always try to fit in as much hiking, swimming, kayaking and horseback riding as possible. The dogs go crazy as soon as we get near-I think they can smell it in the air. The woods have such a distinctive smell-so warm and spicy.

It was rainy during our stay which made our hikes misty and especially beautiful. We usually follow the same path-through the ferns and moss

and down a slippery and steep hill to the stream.

One of my most favorite places is down here by the stream. There is a small swimming hole with a miniature waterfall feeding into it right behind where this picture was taken.

Just watch out for the spiders!

Feelin the Love

I am always inspired by Things I Love Thursday posts and thought I'd join in today. It really forced me to notice the details and simplicities of each day which in itself, is so important yet so easily overlooked. I love smiling dogs and love how little it takes to make dogs really and truly happy. Syd and Lucy stand at the top of the same small hill, push off with their hind legs and roll the whole way down. Everyday this happens and everyday they look up at me afterwards with a huge smile.

Typically, I don't like eating alone but sometimes a lot can be said for a bowl of pasta, glass of wine and stack of catalogs. Of course to be followed with
